Prosecco Bike in Amsterdam : Information

Move over Beer Bike, it's time for the Prosecco Bike!

Ok technically, it is the same kind of bike, but instead of being filled with ice-cold beer, it's filled with a bottle of Prosecco per person...

Ummmm, CHEERS!

So, get your hen party celebrations well and truly underway with the Prosecco Bike during the hen weekend in Amsterdam. If you want to enjoy some top sights, but without a boring walking tour, this is the way to do it.

With over 800,000 bikes in the city, there really is no better way to explore this incredible city than by bike, especially the Prosecco BIke

What better way to explore Amsterdam than on board a Prosecco Bike.

This unique mode of transport enables you and the girls to take in some of Amsterdam's best sights while sipping refreshing Prosecco as you ride around the canals during your hen weekend.

Don't worry about driving, that's left to the sober driver, all you have to do is drink, peddle and have fun.

Oh yes, we do love the Prosecco Bike...

Just like how parents don't like to pick a favourite between their kids, we don't like to pick favourites when it comes to our hen party activities...

But, if we did the Prosecco or Beer Bike activity would definitely get a whole lot more love!

About the Prosecco Bike and Beer Bike:

While drink driving is very much frowned upon pretty much everywhere in the world, the famed Prosecco Bike and Beer Bike have made it possible for booze-loving hen parties to cruise and booze - and it's an absolute must when it comes to the hen weekend in Amsterdam. Not just because this is one of our favourite activities, but this portable bar on wheels was invented in Amsterdam in the late 1990s.

So, regardless of where you are in the world or whether you call in a Fietscafe, Pedal Crawler, Pedibus, Cycle Pub, Bierbike, Megacycle, or Birriciclo, the original and first Prosecco Bike/Beer Bike came from Amsterdam!

There are two different stories about how the Prosecco Bike/Beer Bike came about. The first and most widely known and believed is about Zwier van Laar. It is said the Dutchman invented the first Beer Bike as a way to help the owner of a local pub who wanted to promote his pub at a locale parade on Queens Day. And, it clearly worked!

The next theory is far less factual and believable, but we kind of wish it was true. The second story states that some ridiculously intoxicated men were biking to their village from their local pub with a lot of beer. As you can imagine, they were stopped by the police and arrested. And, despite being drunk, they didn't love the idea of leaving their precious bikes on the side of the road so they got loaded into the police van along with the drunks. Apparently, in the back of the van, the men began to come up with different ideas about how to fix their situation.

They thought if there was some kind of vehicle where they could drink and ride at the same time, they would not be stopped by the police. More importantly, less beer would be spilt and that was their main concern as riding and drinking saw a lot of beer going to waste.

Regardless of how the Prosecco Bike/Beer Bike came about, it's one of the best activities on offer in Amsterdam and guaranteed to be a hit during your hen weekend!

And, unlike in other countries where the Prosecco/Beer Beer bike is banned from the main roads, you'll pedal the canal-lined streets of Amsterdam and see some top sights during this 1-hour and 15-minute Prosecco Bike activity. More importantly, you'll each have a bottle of Prosecco to help keep you 'hydrated' and fuel the hen party celebrations.

GOOD TO KNOW:

The Prosecco Bike or Beer Bike is available all year round and the bikes are usually fitted with a canopy in the event of rain. A number of different time slots are available and Prosecco Bike Carries 6-16 people while the Beer Bike carries 5-16 people.
