While Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city following Berlin, Munich and Hamburg, there is nothing fourth place or even second place about this incredibly vibrant and incredibly beautiful city.
Especially when it comes to a hen weekend!

A vibrant nightlife, eventful bars, a plethora of carnivals, impressive architecture and being Germany's fourth-largest city are just a few of the great things Cologne has going for it.
The other is its fantastic array of hen party activities including the Multi Activity Day Prosecco Bike, Spa Days, Music Video Experience, Pole Dancing, Karting, Sexy Wake-Up, and the hilarious Bubble Football!
If you and the girls are history buffs, like architecture or just enjoy a spot of sightseeing, you'll certainly enjoy Cologne for your hen weekend.
Cologne is one of the oldest cities in Germany and its main attraction, the Cologne Cathedral, took an impressive 640 years to build from 1248 to 1888.
The Cathedral of Cologne is also the final resting place of the Three Kings, also known as the Three Wise Men.
Along with its impressive cathedral and architecture, Cologne is also dubbed Germany's Museum Capital. More than twenty museums are sprawled throughout the city including the famed Ludwig Museum, the Museum of Chocolate and the Farina Fragrance Museum, which is the world’s oldest fragrance factory and the birthplace of the original Eau de Cologne.
So, definitely put the Farina Fragrance Museum on the list of things to do in Cologne during your hen weekend.
And, if you are not into all that history or sightseeing, you'll be happy to know one of Cologne's most modern claims to fame is for being the home of Kölsch Beer. Something, which we expect you to drink plenty of during your hen weekend.
What’s on in Cologne:
Depending on when you are heading to Cologne for your hen weekend, you might find yourself there at the time of a fantastic and must-see festival or carnival. Below you'll find a few of the favourites:
February - March: Cologne Carnival - During the 'crazy days' of the Cologne Carnival, you'll find people celebrating with parties on the streets, in public squares and in pubs. More importantly, closing times for pubs and bars are suspended for the duration of the festival, making this an ideal time to head to Cologne to celebrate your hen weekend.
May: Previously held in August, the C/O Pop Festival, Cologne's Music Festival, has moved to the month of May.
July: Light Festival
July-August: Summer Festival
September: Cologne Beer Market - or what we like to call the ultimate reason to head to Cologne in September for a stag do!
Nov-Dec: Christmas markets
Getting from the airport:
Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN), which is the main airport that serves Cologne is over 9 miles (15 km) from the city. Cologne actually has more bars and clubs per capita than any other German city, so trust us, you're in for a good time and there will be no shortage of great watering holes for you and the girls to enjoy.
People often start out in Kwartier Latäng, or the Latin Quater, where you'll find Zülpicher Straße, the party mile. If bar hopping is on the agenda for your hen weekend, this will be the ideal place to start out. No need to walk far, you can go from pub to pub in just a few metres in Kwartier Latäng, making it perfect for our Guided Bar Crawl!
Friesenplatz is another one of Cologne’s best-known meeting points and if you and the girls like R&B and House music, you'll want to head here. On Saturday nights you'll find one packed bar after another in this vibrant area that boasts buzzing shopping boulevards during the day. So, be sure to check it out during the day too, because what's a hen weekend without a little bit of shopping.
The Cologne Ring, the area of Barbarossaplatz Square, the Belgian Quarter, the Vringsveedel area and the Old Town are other party hot spots Cologne has on offer.
The area of Südstadt, particularly around Chlodwigplatz station, is not only buzzing with great restaurants and cafés but is also home to some great bars and clubs.
