Steeped in history with Roman walls and a Tudor heart, Chester allures brides-to-be as a beautiful hen party city. There’s plenty to do without being too crazy, plus you won’t be running into any stag parties anytime soon!
The city itself is compact and represents more of a large Tudor village. It hosts a smattering of gorgeous bars and popular clubs, as well as shops that will keep even the most hardened shopper busy for the entire hen weekend. Since you and the girls deserve the very best, it's a perfect match.
During the day there is so much Chester can offer. One of our favourite hen party activities is a luxurious River Cruise through the Eaton Estate, which is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster. You can also check out wonderful sights such as the Heron Bridge and Eccleston Ferry. The city also has all your hen party favourites like Cocktail Making or Nude Life Drawing!
From chic taverns to stylish riverside wine bars, Chester really does have it all. A walk around the city's old wall or a picnic down by the river is a good way of spending a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine. By night Chester comes alive without being overly rowdy or raucous.
A city with an alternative attitude to hen parties, Chester has plenty of alternative activities too. One of our favourites is the wacky & wonderful Murder Mystery Evening. You and the girls will investigate each other to find out who the murderer is! All this comes complete with a delicious private meal.
With a plethora of posh pubs and classy clubs, Chester is a lavish playground for your hen do. One of the main areas to spend your evening is Watergate Street. There are many pubs and clubs there and on adjoining streets. If you head down to Faulkner and Charles streets you’ll find plenty more bars, ideal for an early evening bar crawl!
To get around the city you can buy a PlusBus ticket. This allows you unlimited bus and tram travel with most operators. There is no peak restrictions so you’re welcome to get on and off at any time. You can purchase one from the ticket office in any rail station, as well as online.
Shopping in Chester, specifically along Eastgate, is a lady's dream. The unique row formation means you have shops on top of shops, giving you 2 high streets in the space of 1. There are loads of larger retailers as well as unique boutiques on the above rows - the hidden gems of Eastgate.
Chester Zoo is a top-class attraction, in fact, it’s actually the UK's most visited attraction outside of London. Its home to over 21,000 animals making it one of the most packed and diverse zoos in the country.
You can take a walk along the ancient city walls of Chester, giving you a great view of the city. Another piece of history is the Chester Cathedral. It's over 1000 years old but still stages plenty of modern events and musical performances. The venue itself is free to enter and the surrounding architecture is truly stunning.
