A vibrant and delicious mix of 18th-century architecture, amazing food, world-famous wine, a buzzing arts scene, great nightlife, the elegance of the Garonne River, great hen party activities and so much more.

Oh yes, the wonderful old city of Bordeaux might be France's sixth-largest city but it's number one in our books for an amazing hen weekend abroad.

So forget Paris and Lyon, Bordeaux is the most idyllic French city with everything on offer for a hen weekend. More importantly with a train from London that will get you there in under 6-hours, it's incredibly easy and affordable to get to.

Firstly, if you and the girls want to sip wine on the riverbank in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, you'll struggle to find somewhere more picturesque than Bordeaux. From the Gothic cathedral of Saint-André, the public gardens that the quays along the river to the Place de la Bourse or the Hôtels Particuliers, which built in the 18th-century wine merchants, Bordeaux is an incredibly beautiful city and the world's largest urban World Heritage Site, cradling half the city.

But this city that is most famous for its wine and its architecture has so much more on offer, especially when it comes to a hen weekend.

Bordeaux has long been a hot spot for tourist and wine enthusiasts alike, but now the rest of the world, especially hen parties are starting to catch onto the trend and head there too. And we totally understand why!

You simply can't head to Bordeaux without exploring all the riverside riches along the Garonne and the best way to that on the hen weekend is with a Wine Tasting River Cruise.

After all the beauty of the river, it's time to really sample some French beauties at the Girls Only Strip Club. Oh yeah, 'It's Ladies Night' every night in this place. You and the girls can feast your eyes on the stripteases and near-naked men throughout the club. Of course, then there is the private lap dance for your bride-to-be, which will take place in a reserved room and you'll also get to enjoy a bottle of Philipponnat Royale Champagne or bottle of spirits with sodas.

The night can't end there, so then it's time to head to the club with our Club Entry & Bottles package. Along with entry to one of the best clubs in the city, you and the girls will enjoy a table for 6 people with 2 bottles of strong alcohol or 2 tables for 7 to 12 people with 4 bottles of strong alcohol.

After such a big night, get day two off to a relaxing start with our VIP Spa Day. Steam, sweat and soak out all of the toxins to leave you revitalised and ready for the day ahead.

But, not only is Bordeaux a city rich in history that's oozing with incredible architecture, fine wine and mouth-watering food, it also has some top hen weekend activities on offer including a French Pastry Workshop, Buggy Ride & Winery Tour, Wine Tasting River Cruise, a Girls Only Strip Club, a VIP Spa Day, an Afternoon Cruise and so much more!

The first thing you need to know about going out and the nightlife in Bordeaux, is it's far livelier than in many other French cities and there is a lot, and we mean a lot, on offer.

The second thing you need to know is that there are a few key areas and venues well worth your attention.

When it comes to starting your night out, you'll want to head to the squares and pedestrian streets in the city centre, particularly the St Pierre district. When all those bars start to shut their doors around 2 am, move on towards the late-night watering holes and clubs in Quai de Paludate. Bassins à Flot at the northern bend of Garonne River is another hot spot where hoards of partygoers head for a nightcap.

And, if you are not on a boat, there are the nearby streets of Bassins à Flot and in the city centre along the Rue du Pas-Saint-Georges, around the Places des Quinconces and the Place de la Comédie.

While Bordeaux has long been a hub for tourist and wine connoisseurs alike, since 2000, the city has undergone a massive renovation and rejuvenation program, which included creating new festivals, developing the banks of the Garonne River, improving the nightlife and cleaning facades so the town and riverscapes were again among the noblest in France.

Many of its historical and classical buildings were also restored and a number of the streets became completely pedestrianised. These enhancements and makeovers gave Bordeaux a dynamic new lease of life and of course, threw it back on the map as a top tourist destination and made it an ideal city for your Hen Party.

Long famous for its food and drink, Bordeaux is also home to Cité du Vin, which is Europe’s greatest wine museum and exhibition centre. Workshops, tastings, shows, exhibits and more, basically if it is wine-related, you'll find it at Cité du Vin. You'll also find 800 different wines in the wine shop, 200 from France and the other 600 from around the rest of the world.
